After Alina and Cohen finished learning about the digestive system, they had a couple of projects to complete. The first one was to write a comic strip about a piece of food going through the digestive system. Here is Alina’s.
Alina and Cohen learned about how the Olympics were in ancient times. Did you know that women were not allowed to compete in ancient times? In fact, only single women could even go watch the Olympics. Married women were not allowed to go. If they did and were caught, the penalty was death.
Alina and Cohen had a project of setting up Olympic games for the family to participate in. Cohen fully understood the competition part. :0) However, Alina (not being competitive at all) set up food and crafts for us to do. :0) It’s really interesting to see their personalities come out.
When we came into the room, Alina had these Olympic rings set out that she had made.
Alina and Cohen have finished studying Ancient Egypt and have moved on to learning about Ancient Greece. The Greek’s idea of beauty was quiet different than ours. For starters, they believed that the pinky toe should be the same length as the big toe. They also believed that a mans height should be six times the length of his foot and woman should be eight times the length of her foot. Poor Cohen would have been too tall by Greek standards.
I had a really good birthday this year just hanging out with the family. The day before my birthday Wes bought me two rugs for the house. We have a QVC outlet here and they occasionally get rugs in. Wes went by there and saw that they had the rugs 60% off! Wes came and picked me up so I could pick two out. I was so excited! I LOVE them!!!!! Here’s the one for the hallway. It may not look very long in the picture, but it is 12 feet long!
Did you know that our small intestines are 20 feet long? Kids were amazed that something this long was scrunched up inside of them.
Pizza Balls. (yes - I got this recipe off of Pinterest). These were so easy that the kiddos made them. We did pepperoni and cheese. We made them again a couple of week later and used Canadian bacon, pineapple tidbits, and Italian Sausage. Everyone loved them! We dipped them in marinara sauce.
2 cans of biscuits. (I used Great Value). Cut each biscuit into fourths. Use any ingredients that you desire. (We used chopped pepperoni and mozarella cheese). Take 4 pieces of a biscuit and squish/roll the ingredients into it - like you are making a snowball. Place in a muffin tin. Bake at 350 for 15 mins. or until biscuits are done. Dip in Pizza sauce.
